QATAR: NEW PROCEDURE REGARDING IMO CARGO LOADED FROM ALL OVER

Hamad Port officials have reviewed their “DG handling procedures” recently, hence now it is mandatory that all DG shipments are loaded ex Origin (POL) upon verifying the Port’s approval.

Copy of the approval letter must be forwarded to the Shipper by Consignee. Port approval can be obtained well in advance by Consignee upon furnishing relevant Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of cargoes to Port’s IMDG officer.

DG shipments arriving Hamad Port without proper port’s approval shall not be allowed to be discharged and instead retained on board (ROB) which will most likely cause extra costs to the Line who will claim same from the shipper party showing in the B/L.Consignees who have obtained Port’s approval to receive DG shipments on “Direct Delivery” must ensure adequate number of trucks/trailers are placed near the vessel as soon as containers are discharged.

Failing which, shipments shall be retained on board (ROB) and sent to the next available transshipment port which will most likely cause extra costs to the Line who will claim same from the receiver and or shipper party showing in the B/L.

DG information(IMO Class, Cargo description/ Packing Group/ UN Number) must be manifested on BLs without any exception.
