Days of Battle in Northern Iraq

October 28, 2016 – MOSUL, IRAQ. Once again Iraq faces unrest as they move into the fourth day of battle in Northern Iraq as allied forces attempt to liberate Iraq’s second largest city. Since June 2014, Mosul, the oil-rich capital of Nineveh province, was overran by IS militants or ISIS. Government and Kurdish forces (including US special operations forces) are heading toward Mosul from the south and east to make the city free, with still a lot of ground to reach it. Elaborate defenses such as a network of tunnels, booby traps, car bombs and explosives are discovered leaving coalition forces to maneuver off main roads and through dirt areas.
The Greenshields Project Cargo / Move One Iraq team remains on the ground, in full operation mode and in touch with the situation. The Erbil International Airport (EIA) will face periodic closures to give space to the military activities. The customs office will remain open but priority will be given to cargo shipments that are directly related to the offensive or any supporting humanitarian aid efforts. All other cargo and passenger flights will either be delayed, re-routed to Sulaymaniyah International Airport (ISU) or completely cancelled.
Although the length of this offensive is unknown many predict it can last up to two-months leaving transit to, from, through or even around this area unpredictable and challenging. Move One continues to support the logistical requirements of both humanitarian and military supplies into Iraq during this crisis. New routes are being discovered regularly so that swift deliveries into the affected areas continue regularly.
With large warehousing capabilities, an experienced operations team and in-house customs clearance capabilities at both EIA and ISU airports and also at the Ibrahim Khalil border with Turkey, Greenshields Project Cargo / Move One is the right logistics provider in turbulent and uncertain environments.

Greenshields Project Cargo / Move One will continue to notify its customers of potential delays or transit changes throughout this situation. If you require support at anytime to or from this region, please contact us.
